it’s times like this i believe everything major she does is part of some public “arc” she wants to paint which is ultimately tied to the theme of some era/project/album she wants to sell… like do we truly know who this woman is and what she stands for underneath it all. yes i know i sound dramatic but 🤷🏻‍♀️

oh absolutely, it's never been more obvious than now. i always joke about her needing a new Storyline before she can release ts10 but it's not even a joke anymore. season 8 and 9 of Taylor Swift didn't get to have their grand finale (epic stadium tour) so we left off on Accidentally Controversial Grammy and started the spin-off series Taylor's Versions, which critics (me) have panned as uninspired and dull. viewers generally express disappointment with the pacing and plot of the spin-off series and wonder how this will all tie in with the main show 🧐🧐

all jokes aside, i think she's still figuring out how to live a normal life and also still be Super Likable Taylor Swift, and is finding it very difficult to do both. i don't think she's a horrible person at heart, but her latest antics have made me question whether she cares more about success than she does other people. we know she's image obsessed and for a very long time i think ignoring it until it goes away did work, especially during covid when there was a very good reason for radio silence and lack of general activity, but almost everything she's done since folkmore has seemed more in service of her EGOT dream and making big stacks. which is a revolting look for someone who claimed she was going to use her platform to make a change and speak up about what she believes in, which, if she is to be believed, has turned out to be very little indeed. she cares about people dissing her on twitter, despite writing a song about how she was no longer going to give a fuck about that. and beyond that, it seems civil rights in general take a backseat to her getting five minutes of screentime in an abusive piece of shit's movie, or her licensing a song to a racist piece of shit's movie adaptation, or her boyfriend getting attention for his lackluster tv show.

if she's scared of getting it wrong then the solution is to hire people who can tell her exactly what to say. it's such a bullshit excuse after 2016 and after her documentary it's even more embarrassing.
